Common questions & practical answers

Q: If I'm taking it for sleep, do I take it before bed?

A: CBD works best when taken in regular doses, daily. Taking CBD is not like a sleeping pill and, if taken in a proper size dose, it will usually not make you sleepy immediately. The terpenes in our Sleep formula are meant to relax you, on the other hand, so that formula will allow sleep to come naturally. It can take a few days to start to feel the benefits of CBD because you build up more receptors the more you take it. Many people experience the benefit of a good night sleep when their endocannabinoid system is well-regulated using CBD.

Q: Will taking CBD make me feel high?

A: No, although you may feel more sluggish or groggy than you would prefer for everyday activities if you have not properly increased your dosages slowly over time as recommended.

Q: Should I take regular or extra strength?

A: Always start with regular strength. It may be a good idea to start with half the recommended dose by weight on the bottle and then ramp up slowly over the course of a few weeks. For regular endocannabinoid system maintenance, we suggest sticking with regular strength doses indefinitely if that feels right to you. For correcting an issue with the endocannabinoid system, we suggest working your way up to extra strength slowly over time and then working your way back down to regular strength once the issue is relieved.

Q: I have a nut allergy. Do you have an alternative to the organic sweet almond oil for people?

A: Our Buzz Fixer is a funny novelty product, but it is also great for everyday use. It comes in a delicious mint flavor and is made with MCT oil.

Q: Why hemp and not cannabis?

A: Both hemp and cannabis contain THC and CBD. The amount of THC in hemp is an extremely small amount, which is easier to process out of the CBD that is extracted for the CBD-only formulas. The THC level of cannabis, on the other hand, is much higher and would take a significant amount of effort to process out of the plant to a level where it could legally be sold to the general public. The THC in our CBD isolate oil has been processed out completely to 0%. The THC in our full spectrum oil options is safely under the legal limits and verified with third party testing.

Q: How many calories are in a dose?

A: There are about 8 calories per full dropper in the organic sweet almond oil.

Q: Why is the CBD in an oil versus a pill?

A: CBD is most effective when dissolved in oil because the CBD needs to bind to a fat in order to be absorbed most effectively. Different oils have different absorption rates. The oils we choose for our tinctures have the best absorption rates for CBD specifically. We are always looking to expand our offerings and expect to have CBD oil capsule pills out soon!

Q: Why is there so much conflicting information online about what the correct dose is for CBD?

A: There are many factors that play a part in how CBD is experienced for each individual. For example; weight, tolerance, metabolism, severity of a medical condition, and diet. Our weight-based dose recommendations are meant as a guide for where to start. From there, you can try increasing or decreasing your dose to determine what works best for you.

Q: I noticed when I take CBD right before going to bed, I'm a little groggy in the morning. What should I do?

A: CBD affects everyone differently and some slight adjustments to how much and when you're taking CBD are sometimes needed. If you're experiencing morning grogginess when taking CBD, try reducing the dose that you're taking and/or take it with dinner instead of at bedtime. Most people who experience morning grogginess find one or both of these changes completely eliminate the groggy morning feeling while still experiencing the benefits of taking a daily dose of CBD.

Q: Will I test positive for THC when taking CBD oil?

A: Our full spectrum oils do have a small amount of THC. It is not enough to get you high, but it is enough to show up on many drug tests.
